Road safety begins with understanding the challenges faced by all road users. With this objective in mind, a Safety Day was organized in collaboration with one of our key customers, focusing on a critical road safety topic: truck blind spots.

Through an immersive experience combining theory and hands-on activities, participants discovered an important reality: what a truck driver cannot see can quickly become a serious safety risk.

Understanding Blind Spots: A Major Safety Challenge

Even with modern safety technologies, trucks still have areas around the vehicle that remain outside the driver's field of vision. These blind spots can prevent drivers from seeing nearby cars, cyclists, pedestrians, or obstacles.

A better understanding of these limitations is essential to promote safer interactions between all road users.

An Immersive Experience Close to Reality

To make the awareness session both practical and impactful, participants took part in several activities.

The day began with a theoretical session explaining visibility zones around a truck and the risks associated with blind spots.

Participants then observed the vehicle from the outside to identify areas that are invisible from the driver's seat and gain a concrete understanding of the extent of these blind spots.

One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity to sit in the truck cab. This experience allowed participants to see exactly what a driver can, and cannot, see through the mirrors.

Finally, a real-life driving demonstration with the truck in motion emphasized the importance of always remaining visible to the driver.

An Immediate Awareness Impact

The key message of the day was clear:

If a driver cannot see a vehicle, cyclist, pedestrian, or obstacle in their mirrors, they cannot anticipate it, avoid it, or give it priority.

By experiencing these conditions firsthand, participants gained a much deeper understanding of the risks often underestimated when travelling near heavy vehicles. This practical approach creates an immediate impact and encourages safer behaviour on the road.

Safety Is a Shared Responsibility

Accident prevention is everyone's responsibility. Understanding the challenges faced by truck drivers is a crucial step toward improving road safety for all.

This Safety Day helped participants see the road from a different perspective, better understand blind spot risks, and strengthen their awareness in everyday situations.
