Biodiversity is essential to the protection of life in all its forms, including our own :

 Ecosystem balance
Each species plays a role in its ecosystem: predators regulate populations, pollinators ensure the reproduction of plants, and decomposers recycle organic matter. A rich biodiversity guarantees more resilient ecosystems in the face of disturbances (climate change, disease, natural disasters).

Essential ecosystem services
Biodiversity provides services that are essential to our survival:

  • Purification of air and water thanks to forests and wetlands.
  • Pollination of crops by insects (bees, butterflies, bats).
  • Regulation of the climate through the capture of CO₂ by the oceans and forests.

How can we protect it?
  • Preserve natural habitats.
  • Plant trees, sow flowers
  • Create wetland habitats, water points
  •  Keep areas undeveloped, leave dead trees to encourage nesting
  • Reduce pollution and deforestation.
  • Practice sustainable agriculture.
  • Promote responsible consumption patterns.

Let's meet Frédéric Yans, professional beekeeper and nature lover, that gives us concrete advice so that everyone can participate in this wonderful project! https://www.facebook.com/JOSTofficial/videos/1366899697832154

He also communicates us that in Belgium, there are no more natural bees colony. They are subsistings thanks to beekeepers ... It's hight time for us to actively participate to re-create habitats favourable for their development!

Biodiversity is our best ally for a viable and balanced future 🌎💚
