Transport and logistics in the wood industry, a vocation, an experience.

From a historical perspective, transporting wood is one of JOST’s oldest activities.

The wood and wood processing industry includes forestry, sawing logs, sawdust, shavings, bark, pellets, briquettes, recycled wood and biomass. We transport each of these products, each and every day.

Transporting wood and the circular economyTransport and logistics in the wood industry: towards a circular economy?

It has always been our goal for our operations to support sustainability. We do this through concrete aspects, particularly in partnership with the wood processing and cogeneration units of our group.

The renewable nature of the resource wood is achieved through the regular and officially supervised planting of young trees. Membership of the Pan European Forest Certification (PEFC) system leads to economically viable and environmentally-friendly forestry management benefiting society as a whole. We have a responsibility towards future generations.

The "wood as energy" concept is part of our DNA. Our cogeneration (CHP) facilities produce green electricity, with biomass and pellets used to heat our buildings.

The green electricity produced is equivalent to the annual consumption of + /- 40,000 households, while the residual heat allows us to dry our whole production of sawn wood and to produce 266,000 tonnes of pellets a year.

Based in Belgium, France and Germany, our wood processing and CHP units produce green electricity, the energy of the future. More than 60 years of experience, professionalism and technology!
